Living in community means that horses live in a spacious natural setting in community with other horses (in a herd). Horses are provided with ample space to feel a sense of freedom so their voice can be heard and honored.
When you put your horse into our community based retirement and learning centers, you can be assured that your horse will be safe and well cared for. He will have the opportunity to continue socialization with humans and will be integrated into our nature-based learning center programs, if he/she chooses to do so.
In community, your horse will get:
- Time to acclimate to a new environment and new lifestyle*
- Live in large spacious natural environments with plenty of room to move freely
- Socialization with other horses
- Living in herds with compatible companions
- Opportunities for socialization and positive interactions with humans
- Regular feeding and supplementation
- The horse’s choice to participate in educational and therapeutic programs, such as meditation, music therapy, walk/talk therapy, nature walks, gardening, and more
- Regular grooming
- 24/7 on-site supervision
- Routine medical, dental, and farrier care
- An exceptionally high level of individual care, love, and attention
*Some horses require more adjustment time to reconnect with their instincts, relearn human body language and boundaries on the ground and at liberty, understand a new horse-human dynamic, and time to adjust to herd dynamics and social structure. This is expected and understood with each new horse that is accepted by Beyond Liberty.
Our Values:
- Retired horses will not be ridden.
- Horses will be given a choice to participate in human-based programs such as meditation, music therapy, walk/talk therapy, nature walks, etc.
