BEYOND Liberty is not a traditional boarding facility. Horses here live in a consent-based, herd-centered sanctuary environment designed to support rest, autonomy, movement, connection, and well-being.
Horses live in a herd setting with space to move, socialize, rest, and simply be horses. Our approach prioritizes voice, choice, and nervous system well-being, while also maintaining a safe, structured environment with ongoing oversight and care.
We intentionally maintain a small retirement program so that each horse receives individualized attention, thoughtful herd integration, and lifelong support.
In addition to sanctuary life, the organization “opens the gates” to the community through low-cost mindfulness and wellness-based programming held in the presence of the horses. Participation from the horses is never expected or required. The horses always have the freedom to engage, move away, rest, observe, or simply exist within their own boundaries and preferences.
Because we make a long-term commitment to each horse we accept, we structure retirement care with both an initial placement commitment and ongoing monthly support. This helps ensure stability, continuity of care, and the resources needed to provide a safe, well-supported environment for every horse in our program.
To reserve a retirement opening, we require the following:
This initial deposit holds the horse’s placement while intake conversations, transportation, scheduling, and transition planning are finalized.
This payment represents the first three months of retirement care and is non-refundable once the horse enters the program.

This deposit is held on the horse’s account throughout their lifetime at BEYOND Liberty to ensure funds are available for end-of-life care and arrangements.
When the horse reaches the end of their life, the deposit may be used for expenses such as:
Owners are welcome to invite friends, family, or supporters to sponsor their horse through our monthly sponsorship program.
Sponsorship contributions received for the horse, after transaction and processing fees, will be applied toward the horse’s monthly retirement balance.
Some families find comfort in knowing that people who love the horse have an opportunity to remain connected and contribute to their continued well-being and care.
Retirement placement is limited and based not only on space availability, but also on herd dynamics, temperament compatibility, and the overall needs of the existing horses in our care.
Each potential retirement placement begins with an intake conversation so we can determine whether the environment is an appropriate fit for both the horse and the sanctuary community.
