A WORKSHOP FOR TEACHERS

Find your calm.
Bring it back to your classroom.

Learn practical movement tools proven to lower cortisol. Tools you can use Monday morning, right back in your classroom. Join our one-day teacher wellness workshop.

Sat, July 25

10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Watsonville, CA

Teaching is demanding. Your body carries the stress.

The modern classroom requires immense energy, patience, and emotional resilience. Over time, that constant demand can lead to elevated cortisol levels, persistent fatigue, and burnout. As educators, we often prioritize our students’ well-being while neglecting our own mental and physical health.

This immersive one-day teacher wellness workshop is designed specifically for educators. Blending the ancient, proven practices of Tai Chi and Qigong with the grounding presence of rescue horses, you’ll learn how to physically reset your nervous system.

More importantly, you won’t just feel better on Saturday—you’ll leave with actionable, mindful movement techniques to implement immediately in your daily routine.

Cortisol is the body’s primary stress hormone. While it’s helpful in short bursts, chronic high cortisol from the daily pressures of teaching can impair cognitive function, disrupt sleep, and weaken the immune system. Mindful movement is scientifically proven to lower cortisol levels, bringing your body out of “fight or flight” mode and back into a state of restorative balance.

Why Focus on Cortisol?

Cortisol is the body’s primary stress hormone. While it’s helpful in short bursts, chronic high cortisol from the daily pressures of teaching can impair cognitive function, disrupt sleep, and weaken the immune system. Mindful movement is scientifically proven to lower cortisol levels, bringing your body out of “fight or flight” mode and back into a state of restorative balance.

What to Expect at the Workshop

Our curriculum is designed to be accessible, gentle, and highly practical. You don’t need any prior experience in meditation, yoga, or horse handling to benefit fully from this experience.

Mindful Movement

Engage in gentle Tai Chi and Qigong practices specifically chosen for their ability to lower stress hormones, improve mental clarity, and restore physical energy. These moving meditations connect breath with intention.

Equine Connection

Spend restorative time in nature alongside sanctuary horses. Horses are prey animals with highly attuned nervous systems. Being in their presence helps anchor human heart rates and promotes deep awareness.

Practical Tools

Walk away with a personal 'toolkit' of brief somatic exercises. Learn 1-minute to 5-minute routines you can use between class periods or whenever you need to quickly recenter yourself on a chaotic Monday morning.

The Science of Somatic Healing for Teachers

Traditional professional development often focuses on pedagogical strategies or classroom management. However, addressing educator burnout requires looking at the physiological toll of teaching. This is where somatic healing comes in.

How Tai Chi and Qigong Help

Tai Chi and Qigong are centuries-old practices that combine slow, deliberate movements, meditation, and deep breathing. Research published by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) demonstrates that these practices:

By moving out of our over-active minds and tuning into the body, we can process stress before it turns into burnout.

The Role of Equine Sanctuary Environments

Partnering with the rescue horses at Beyond Liberty adds a unique layer to our wellness approach. Horses communicate primarily through body language and energy. When humans interact with them, we must become completely present and grounded. This phenomenon, known as limbic resonance, naturally calms the human nervous system, making the sanctuary an ideal environment for stress relief.

Simultaneously, he dedicated his life to the deep study and practice of mindful movement. Now, as the founder of Move 2 Focus, he bridges these two worlds. His mission is to help educators reclaim their well-being, longevity, and joy in teaching through the intelligence of the body.
