The modern classroom requires immense energy, patience, and emotional resilience. Over time, that constant demand can lead to elevated cortisol levels, persistent fatigue, and burnout. As educators, we often prioritize our students’ well-being while neglecting our own mental and physical health.
This immersive one-day teacher wellness workshop is designed specifically for educators. Blending the ancient, proven practices of Tai Chi and Qigong with the grounding presence of rescue horses, you’ll learn how to physically reset your nervous system.
More importantly, you won’t just feel better on Saturday—you’ll leave with actionable, mindful movement techniques to implement immediately in your daily routine.
Cortisol is the body’s primary stress hormone. While it’s helpful in short bursts, chronic high cortisol from the daily pressures of teaching can impair cognitive function, disrupt sleep, and weaken the immune system. Mindful movement is scientifically proven to lower cortisol levels, bringing your body out of “fight or flight” mode and back into a state of restorative balance.
Our curriculum is designed to be accessible, gentle, and highly practical. You don’t need any prior experience in meditation, yoga, or horse handling to benefit fully from this experience.
Engage in gentle Tai Chi and Qigong practices specifically chosen for their ability to lower stress hormones, improve mental clarity, and restore physical energy. These moving meditations connect breath with intention.
Spend restorative time in nature alongside sanctuary horses. Horses are prey animals with highly attuned nervous systems. Being in their presence helps anchor human heart rates and promotes deep awareness.
Walk away with a personal 'toolkit' of brief somatic exercises. Learn 1-minute to 5-minute routines you can use between class periods or whenever you need to quickly recenter yourself on a chaotic Monday morning.
By moving out of our over-active minds and tuning into the body, we can process stress before it turns into burnout.
Rob understands the unique, compounding pressures of the classroom firsthand. He spent 25 years working directly with students in the private school system, navigating the exact same behavioral, administrative, and emotional challenges you face daily.
Simultaneously, he dedicated his life to the deep study and practice of mindful movement. Now, as the founder of Move 2 Focus, he bridges these two worlds. His mission is to help educators reclaim their well-being, longevity, and joy in teaching through the intelligence of the body.
Not at all. This workshop is designed for complete beginners. All movements are gentle and adaptable to any physical ability level. Our interactions with the horses will be guided, safe, and require no prior equestrian experience.
Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement (e.g., yoga pants, sweatpants, or loose jeans) and closed-toe shoes suitable for walking in nature. We recommend bringing a water bottle, sun protection, and a journal if you like to take notes.
Yes! A healthy, light lunch will be provided to all attendees. We will reach out regarding dietary restrictions after you register.
Thanks to the collaborative efforts of Move 2 Focus, Beyond Liberty, and PMR, we have subsidized this event. Our primary goal is to support the mental health and wellness of our local teaching community, removing financial barriers to access.
A full day of restoration, practical learning, and connection—including a light lunch.
